A TIME FOR EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN (ECCLESIASTES 3:1)

Mixed Media on Canvas in three sizes (from smaller to larger) 60cm H x 45cm W (23.6" x 17.7"), 70cm H x 50cm W (27.5" x 19.6") and 80cm H x 50cm W (31.4" x 18.6"). The large thematic painting in the Rococo style is 120cm H x 100cm W (47.2" x 39.3").

Each of these (except for the largest one) were framed professionally for our gallery showing in early 2025 at Juana de Arte Gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This collection is a series inspired by the biblical passage written by King Solomon that reminds us of our purpose and significance in the seasons of life under the care of God. Past, present and future are all in His hands.

These portraits represent different moments in our lives which inspire hope and change. The words for each call to action are written on the painting itself and reminds the viewer of the mystery and challenges of life and how we can respond in faith and hope to live our lives under the glory of God.

Floral Studies

Oil on Canvas 40cm x 40cm (15.7" x 15.7"). Each of these were framed professionally for our gallery showing in early 2025 at Juana de Arte Gallery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Some were painted as a "still life" and the others were painted more directly and with a sense of freedom in order to create movement and a more dynamic composition.

The two floral studies that have flowers in a glass vase were also challenging and quite satisfying. Painting glass is an art unto itself and I am looking forward to trying it on other metals like gold and copper and bronze. Oil painting allows for that depth of dimension that you can't get with any other materials.

Abstract Florals

Mixed Media on Canvas 70cm x 50cm (27.5" H x 19.6" W) unframed. Whether horizontal or vertical, the idea is to stun the viewer with an explosion of color that delights the senses.

Bold and loose brushstrokes, without trying to be tied to a representational format, allows for more freedom and a fresher look to every piece.

Blues, pinks and golds tend to characterize these floral abstracts. Although they are obviously based on a floral theme, the work is free to diverge from the norms and come up with something creative and maybe even a bit strange.

Painting in this style allows me to be a bit of a fast painter, which I like to do and not overthink the process so much. The truth is that you have to learn the basics first before you can try to ignore every detail and paint in this manner.

It is still true to my desire to take my inspiration from nature and find a new way to represent movement and linework in the brushstrokes and mark making.

Abstracts

Mixed Media on Canvas 70cm W x 50cm H (27.5" W x 19.6" H) unframed. Abstracts are harder to do than you might think but once you break through the process and come out on the other side, you might surprise yourself with the results. The idea is to invite the viewer to see with their imagination and not just with their eyes.

The idea is to "abstract" from real things to get the look and feel that you want. From acryllic washes to spray paint to refining with oil sticks, the truth is that it is also a lot of fun. Still, portraits and flowers are some of my favorite things to paint.
